Anchoring yourself in a vision to help to deliver the reality of RIM and enable a move from Islands to Continents

The question of what you understand as the scope of RIM is a choice of how you define it. That choice shall be made on informed decisions acknowledging various parameters which lead to the development of a clear but flexible vision. By so doing driving to a reality flexible enough to deal with changing regulatory environments, meeting regulations without letting them define the direction. By the same token hectic and unplanned changes of direction would distort your holistic view.

How can your imagination of how you would like to do regulatory work in the future be fired and even more importantly: how does this impact decisions on how to define information landscape, trigger and guide business process and thus organizational change, derive proper tool support and integration needs? What do you forego by not choosing an option and what do you enable by choosing another? What avenue do you pursue and what milestones must be passed to successfully reach the goal?

Choices must be made for instance on

  • Business process efficiencies and user adoption
  • Information tracking granularity
  • Systems automation and integration with automated data imports
  • Confidentiality "compliant" content

The choices must be aligned with business needs which addresses pains and desires answering the question of what setting enables you to best focus on core competency and specialization. The benefits might be: on target submissions, process time savings and efficiencies, reliable and accurate information, to name a few.

This presentation will elaborate on this complex business area and provide you with guidance on what questions could evolve and what set of choices could lead to what implications. It will acknowledge nowadays´clear shift in the IT discipline from technology to information in the context of providing business value where technology is an enabler whereas the right information rightly used makes the difference.
